Project Safe Place Where Kids Get Help…FAST
What is Safe Place?
- A community partnership designed to provide safe and
immediate help for runaway, homeless and in-crisis youth
- An “insurance policy” for youth to use at times when they feel
overwhelmed or unsafe
- An opportunity for youth to take the initiative in getting the
help that they need, at familiar locations displaying the
distinctive diamond-shaped yellow and black Safe Place sign
- A resource available to any youth experiencing abuse, neglect,
social or family problems with which he or she is unable to cope
- A Wells County initiative that is part of a national program
with more than 11, 700 sites in 41 states
- Nationally, Safe Place has assisted more than 61,589 youth
Benefits:
- Easily recognized by prominently displayed yellow and black
signs.
- Youth in-crisis can enter any Safe Place site and request help.
- Youth are educated about the Safe Place Program in the Wells
County Schools.
- Safe Place Coordinator is available for crisis intervention
calls 24/7.
