Host Homes
Mission: To provide safe homes for children
during crisis situations
- Safe, nurturing, temporary alternatives to institutions or
foster homes, designed to give shelter to children who need a
"cooling off" period away from their family due to crisis
situations.
- Voluntary for the youth, their parent(s), and the Host
Family.
- All Host Families are screened and trained prior to
accepting youth.
- All families are given crisis intervention and referrals to
other resources, even if youth is not appropriate to stay in a
Host Home or refuses the service.
- Youth who are placed in a Host Home are in most cases
reunited with their family after a service plan is implemented.
This plan attempts to bring the youth and parents together to
create common goals and objectives for building positive
relationships between family members.
- Resources and referrals to other services through the
Network for Safe Families are given to the youth and his/her
family for continued help and support.
