Doing for a Friend What a Friend Would Do
Faith Based Mentoring is a program that matches families with a
mentor to help build support around the family.
Mission: To help the faith community build
supportive relationships with partner families, who will be
empowered to learn life skills and achieve self-sufficiency.
- Matches families or individuals with a mentor to help build
support around the family.
- Mentors are volunteers from the Huntington Community that are
trained and supervised by the Program Coordinator.
- Mentors agree to meet for an hour a week with the family they
are matched with and to work with the same family for at least six
months.
- Provides a confidential, supportive relationship to help
families work toward goals they have set.
- All program participants are encouraged to attend monthly
informational meetings with speakers from local agencies that have
programs that benefit families.
- Families and their mentors are also invited to attend activities
throughout the year such as Halloween and Christmas parties and a
summer outing.
